[2024] Honestly Quite Fun

Original photos can be found on GitHub!
I didn’t originally plan to compile photos separately at year-end, but somehow this is already the third year-end photo roundup. Taking photos is one thing, but the editing process turned out to be fun, so it kept going.
If last year was a growth period, this year felt like a maturation period. This year I got used to considering whether a passing impressive landscape was worth capturing as a photo, learned bit by bit how photos become childish and light, and understood what attempts to avoid. Thanks to this, my photo editing style feels somewhat established — just snap something on the street and spend a minute on the bus or subway, and I can make photos like these, which is enjoyable.
More than that, hehe, thanks to that effort I now have a real camera. Unlike the phone camera I’ve been using, it’s big, heavy, and unfamiliar, but the results themselves come out well, and especially I’ve gained some freedom from the focal length and noise issues I suffered with. Next year I want to go back to basics for a bit and get friendly with the new camera too.
